Erb's Palsy

Erb's palsy is a condition in which the arm is injured during childbirth. In this particular type of injury, the upper group of main nerves located in the upper arm is torn or otherwise strained. It usually happens in childbirth when the child's arm is pulled too firmly. In some situations, this can lead to paralysis in the child's arm or a period of time when pain is felt at a highly sensitive level. In some instances, the paralysis will resolve itself, healing over a period. In most other cases, it becomes necessary for the child to have physical therapy or in some cases surgery to correct the problem.
