Cerebral Palsy Physiotherapy

There are many recommended treatments for cerebral palsy that can be customized to fit the needs of the person. Every case of cerebral palsy is different with no two people having identical symptoms. Therefore the treatment must be specifically designed to help the particular symptoms displayed. Cerebral palsy physiotherapy is a treatment that relies on physical therapy, muscles exercises, heat and massage. The purpose of physiotherapy is to improve the person's gait, loosen stiff muscles, prevent the formation of deformities, and improve muscle strength. Many patients are able to increase mobility, balance and movement. For example, one of the common symptoms of cerebral palsy is an inability to stand up without assistance and physiotherapy can develop the large muscles needed to stand without aid. Occupational therapy is a physiotherapy program that focuses on developing the use of smaller muscles in the hands, feet, fingers and toes so a person can perform normal daily activities.
