Cerebral Palsy Effects

Cerebral palsy effects differ from one person to the next. The condition is caused by damage to the brain to different degrees. As such, the area of the brain affected and the severity of the condition play a role in the effects this condition has on the individual. The condition can lead to muscle tightness or muscle spasms. In addition, it can lead to involuntary movement of limbs. Many individuals have difficulty with gross motor skills, which includes running or walking properly. Some also are affected by fine motor skill difficulties, such as using scissors or doing up buttons. For some individuals, the cerebral palsy effects also include perception and sensation difficulties. These problems can cause those with the condition to struggle with feeding, bowel control, and they may have breathing difficulty.
