C Section Babies

C section babies may have challenges to overcome that are very different than those faced by babies that are born vaginally. Typically most women that undergo a c section delivery tend to have less immediate contact with the baby and this sometimes continues for several days, especially if there are any surgical complications that occur during or after the procedure. This lack of contact can have long range impact on the child and the mother as breastfeeding may become difficult or impossible and the child may also have trauma or injury from the procedure itself. It is not uncommon for a baby to be cut, typically superficially, during the surgery which does pose a problem for infection. Children born by c section are also much more likely to develop asthma or to experience breathing difficulties immediately after birth and for several days. This increased stress on the baby can further cause separation between mother an infant and can potentially lead to ongoing health issues. Medical treatment for these c section babies can be costly and it is essential to consult with an attorney if there is any concern that the illness or condition may be related to the c section itself.
